Mason Appleton is headed to the pros.

The forward signed a three-year, entry-level contract worth roughly $2.3-million with the Jets on Thursday.

Winnipeg Jets prospect Mason Appleton has made a decision to turn pro following two seasons at Michigan State University.

The versatile forward can be centre or wing and led the Michigan State Spartans in scoring last season, with 12 goals and 31 points in 35 games.

In his rookie campaign, the 23-year-old forward put up five assists in eight AHL games for the Manitoba Moose, but fared quite well at the National Hockey League level for the majority of the year as well. Appleton earned the team's MVP and Outstanding Offensive Player awards for his contributions on the ice.
