Police received a 911 call around 7:20 p.m. Sunday evening from a woman seeking help from inside an apartment building on the 100 block of Seventh Street.

The call was disconnected and soon after, police received calls reporting several gunshots, Henderson said.

Two people were found dead inside a Seal Beach apartment following an houslong standoff that came to an end Monday morning.

The Seal Beach Police Department didn't respond to a request for comment before time of publication.

Residents reported hearing a helicopter overhead from which people in the area were urged to take shelter in their homes, and police evacuated residents of the affected apartment building, according to postings on a Seal Beach community Facebook page.

About 2 a.m., officers made entry into the apartment and discovered the two bodies, Henderson said. One was a male and the other's gender was not reported. A man who lives and works in the same apartment complex told Eyewitness News the person living in the apartment unit was a police officer going through a "difficult" breakup with his girlfriend.
