Atletico de Kolkata name Teddy Sheringham as coach for upcoming ISL season

Sherringham had scored the equaliser in United's thrilling win over Bayern Munich.

Former England and Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham has joined Indian Super League champions Atletico de Kolkata as head coach for the new season.

Sanjiv Goenka, Chairman RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, Principal Owner ATK announced the signing of Sheringham who has played for the likes of Manchester United, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur with distinction.

Sheringham was part of the famous treble season with United when it won the Premier League, FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League in 1999. "I am glad to welcome our new coach Teddy Sheringham to ATK family and strongly believe that it is going to be an enriching experience for him and the boys. Our endeavour to retain expertise and map out a compact team structure has been enhanced with Sheringham joining the team this season", Goenka said.

The newly formed team that represents Jamshedpur also announced that they had roped in Steve Coppell as their manager.

The Kolkata based side will start their new campaign on October 1 in the fourth edition of the league which has seen the addition of two new teams, making it a 10-team league which runs over the course of five months.
