Assistant Minneapolis police chief Medaria Arradondo confirmed that the body camera program is fully implemented in Minneapolis but Arradondo wouldn't say why the cameras didn't work.

An Australian woman has been shot and killed by a USA police officer near her home in Minneapolis. "And we want to remember Justine tonight, and call for answers, but we want just to remember and respect Justine, tonight, and her family, and share our love for her family, and how much we want to wrap our support around them".

Hundreds of people gathered at the entrance of an alleyway in southwest Minneapolis to mourn the woman who was shot and killed by police there on Saturday night.

While details around the incident are still scare, Minneapolis Police has released a statement explaining how the situation unfolded. Ruszczyk was wearing her pajamas when the woman from Sydney, Australia, was killed.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner told HuffPost the agency could confirm the death of a Justine Ruszczyk, but could not release the cause of her death. The two officers in the incident have been placed on paid administrative leave, while Minneapolis police are pledging a speedy investigation into the incident.

Less than a week earlier it was revealed that officers across the city were using body cameras at what appeared to be a low amounts, despite their high-profile roll out.

Justine Damond, 40, from Sydney, is thought to have lived with her fiance in the USA city.

The mayor also questioned why the police body cameras and squad camera, which were introduced to the Minneapolis Police Department in 2016, were not switched on when the shooting occurred.

Julia Reed, who has known Ms Damond for 32 years, said her friend had brought intelligence and joy to life. Investigators are looking into whether other video of the shooting exists, the statement said.

Her stepson, Zach, claimed on Facebook it was Damond who made the emergency call after hearing noises outside their Fulton home.

In the wake of the shooting, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension issued a statement confirming that two officers were responding to a 911 call implying that an assault could have been taking place in in the alley off West 51st Street, between Washburn and Xerxes Avenues, around midnight on Saturday.

"Basically, my mom's dead because a police officer shot her for reasons I don't know", he told the Star Tribune.

Justine Damond died in a shooting in the United States city of Minneapolis. "The next thing I know they take my best friend's life". More information will be available once initial interviews with incident participants and any witnesses are complete.
