One of the major decisions which the coach is credited to have made is keeping Andres Iniesta at the club, as the board were reportedly willing to let him go this summer. "We're following our objectives with great care", he said at a Press conference.

Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu has already confirmed the club's interest in landing Italy worldwide Verratti, even saying the player himself wants to move to Camp Nou.

He told Cadena Cope: "Verratti can become a key player for Barça, and we always have to fight to attract the big players".

The 23-year-old cost Barca £30million from Valencia last summer, with a further £17m available in add-ons.

"Barca are always monitoring the best players".

Paris Saint-Germain new boy Dani Alves has urged Marco Verratti to snub FC Barcelona and stay with the French giants. "For me, the best signings are those who are in my team", he said. It's hard to improve what's in the team.

The bad news for Mourinho is that news of a possible Rakitic sale has alerted the free spending Italian side AC Milan, who have spent over €200m in recent weeks as fresh investment looks to bring the good times back to the San Siro. "We have not had any offers for any player in our squad and no club will pay the release clause". The transfer periods seem to drag on a lot longer.
