The company's parks and resorts chairman Bob Chapek made the announcement at D23 Expo Saturday afternoon to a crowd of about 7,000 fans.

Part of "Toy Story" Land, which will be coming to Disney World in 2018.

During the D23 Expo, Chapek announced that Toy Story Land will be opening in Summer 2018.

Last year, the leader in family cruising announced plans to build two new ships at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany with scheduled completion dates of 2021 and 2023.

Walt Disney Worlds Toy Story Land will feature two new themed attractions.

"By the time all three new ships are sailing, we'll have almost doubled the size of our existing fleet", he emphasized.

"All ship names, design plans and itineraries are still in development, with each of the ships expected to have their own unique experiences", the statement said. With this major increase in capacity and nearly doubling their fleet, it is likely that Disney Cruise Line will position a ship full-time in Miami, where they can capture a significant number of guests from Central & South America.

This will bring Disney Cruise Line to a fleet of seven ships.

And with Disney joining the LNG-powered lineup, this means 14 newbuilds created to use liquefied natural gas at sea as well as in port. The three new ships will be powered by clean-burning liquefied natural gas and be the same size - approximately 135,000 gross tons with about 1,250 guest staterooms planned - which is slightly larger than the newest Disney Cruise Line ships, the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. The larger Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy followed in 2011 and 2012. Disney promises the new ships will also have innovations and new features.
