Clements missed the final game of the 2016 season after undergoing surgery to fix a Lisfranc tear in his right foot. Still recovering this spring, the former Illniois defensive lineman went undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft.

The Vikings signed defensive tackle Chunky Clements on Friday.

But Clements will still get a shot at an National Football League roster spot. He joins former IL quarterback Wes Lunt on the Vikings roster. They released defensive end Caleb Kidder to make room for Clements.

Clements started 20 of his 46 games for the University of IL. In four seasons at Illinois, Clements played in 37 games and ended his career with 99 tackles (26.5 for a loss), six sacks, and three forced fumbles.
