Azadi train begins countrywide journey

The special train, which will be inaugurated by the Railways minister, is scheduled to start its fifteen-day-long journey from Islamabad on 12th August.

To mark the celebrations of the 70th Independence Day, Pakistan Railways will run an "Azadi Special Train" as a representation of national unity.

More than 100 labourers had worked to finalise the models based on cultural heritage of Pakistan.

A Railway gallery to highlight architectural monument, style such as yellow stones, doom structure, colonial power majestic structure and grey sand stone structure.

According to the schedule released by the Ministry of Railways, the train will reach Peshawar Cantonment at 4:30pm.

After stopover in Lahore for two days, the Azadi Train will leave for Multan and arrive there at 11:30 in the night. On August 13 it will depart the cantonment at 10:30 in the morning for Rawalpindi and will reach there at 7:15 in the evening. On August 20, it will proceed from Sukkur for Sibbi and will arrive there at 8 in the evening. On August 23 it will depart Quetta at 7:00 am and will arrive at Sukkur at 7:30 in the evening. The journey will come to an end at Karachi Cantt on August 25.
