But beyond the relentless fire and brimstone, a comparatively fleeting moment prompted furious speculation amongst Game of Thrones fans as latest episode, The Spoils of War built, towards its thrilling climax. "He acts utterly differently, and really any semblance of personality he used to have has gone".

Now that the show is in its seventh season, it's increasingly unlikely that we'll actually get to see the character.

Because of the unusual glance exchanged between Sansa and her incessant, murderous suitor, some fans have theorized that she will ultimately kill him as penance for the way he has manipulated her and demolished her once happy family.

Clearly keen to remain as close to the Starks as possible, Littlefinger offered Bran his Valyrian steel dagger; explaining the significance of the blade - which is the same one that was sent to kill Bran back in season one - the sleazy character unwittingly uses the word "chaos", only for Bran to reply: "Chaos? He's now an incredibly powerful character; having all the knowledge in the world puts you in a seriously advantageous position".

Sure, Bran may have made it out of Season 6's "The Door" alive, but it certainly looks like our little lord left a piece of himself behind. They cling to the realm, or the gods, or love, the illusions.

Arya has already confessed that she had forgiven The Hound for killing her friend Mycah. Whereas for Sansa, it's a bit like, "You're saying you can change faces, and you're saying you can see everything?"

Game of Thrones returns to HBO on August 13.

Season seven update: Now that season seven of Game of Thrones is well underway and Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish is acting as conniving as ever, this theory about how his death will come about seems even more likely with Arya Stark back at Winterfell.

You'll be delighted to know that there are no spoilers in this post.

In his typically deceptive manner-possibly trying to get Bran to his side-Littlefinger talks about all the "chaos" that has happened over the past few years. The show has no reason for Lady Stoneheart in my opinion'.

Arya's acquisition of this illustrious weapon has major implications. Many who try to climb it fail, never to try again. "It's Bran's fate to become the Three-Eyed Raven".
