Luckily, several government agencies have been ahead of the game, already highlighting on social media the possibility of paranormal activity as the sky goes dark mid-afternoon on August 21. Emergency officials in SC are warning of possible "paranormal activity" tied to the much rumored Lizard Man. The agency tweeted out a handy map of where Lizardmen have been spotted in the past along with an overlay of the path of the solar eclipse.

And with the Carolinas' history of "Lizard Man" and "Bigfoot" sightings, residents should be aware of the possibilities.

On Wednesday, the SCEMD tweeted out a Lizard Man safety tip, accompanied by a graphic showing where the Lizard Man had been sighted in Lee County.

"SCEMD does not know if Lizardmen become more active during a solar eclipse", the agency explains.

Alleged sightings of the "Lizard Man of Scape Ore Swamp" date back to 1988. He threw the thing off, but said that it was able to keep up with the auto at speeds up to 40 miles per hour.

In North Carolina, the Greenville Police Department posted a video of a Bigfoot sighting from 2015, telling its followers "if you see Bigfoot, please do not shoot him/her". Even two police officers said they were convinced "something is out there" after having an alleged encounter about a month after Davis's experience.

Oh, and if you happen to be in SC for the eclipse and run across Bigfoot instead of a Lizard Man, police in Greenville County say they'd greatly appreciate it if you didn't shoot him.

The map shows where the path of totality and bigfoot sightings overlap in the United States.
