The north London side's lead lasted just over two minutes as Shinji Okazaki headed home from close range after some poor defensive errors from the Arsenal goalkeeper and defender.

Thai-owned Leicester let a chance for victory slip away as Arsenal came from behind to win 4-3 in a thrilling English Premier League season opener on Friday night.

Arsenal opened the scoring in the second minute but the Foxes hit back to lead 2-1 and then 3-2 before the Gunners' spectacular comeback in the closing minutes.

Arsenal record-signing Alexandre Lacazette got off to a ideal by scoring inside two minutes of kickoff.

West Ham, Everton and Marseille were all keen to sign the 30-year-old following the arrival of Lacazette from Lyon.

"Giroud? He's fantastic", Wenger said of the France worldwide, who usually started on the bench last season and had been linked with a move away from The Emirates.

"Lacazette is simple. In every game he is stronger since he has joined us", Wenger said.

"Top quality game and you want PL to be best in the world and you have to produce games like that", Wenger told reporters. "I know how important he is not only as a player but also in the group". "He has a big weight in this squad and it was a relief for me that he made a decision to stay".

As Arsenal fans went berserk, Lacazette's celebration was fitting as he simply stood in place with his arms outstretch and a beaming smile while his teammates mobbed him just left of the penalty spot.

"I went to a three-man midfield to get us a screen because Mesut Ozil was playing in the pockets and I wanted Wilfred Ndidi to get in and around him". But Leicester, which so astonishingly won the league in 2016, couldn't hold on for its first win at Arsenal since 1973.

"I feel as well that the goals we conceded, we can work together to get rid of that because one was a corner, one was a ball we lost in the build up and the third goal was on a corner again, so we conceded two goals on corners".

"We were quite good previous year on corners and I believe with a bit of work, we can get that out of the system".
