Jose Mourinho says Manchester United are ready for a serious title challenge

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho brands Nemanja Matic "the ideal player" for his style of management.

West Ham's main summer signing will be a familiar face to the Old Trafford crowd. Losing star man Dimitri Payet midway through the season and in the way they did, certainly dampened the mood further for a while and a distinct lack of goals (only 47 in the league) saw them stumble to an 11th place finish. Manchester United is the clear favorite heading into this game but the clash should be entertaining with a promising and ambitious West Ham side up against the odds. Reports have even suggested Paris Saint-Germain's Serge Aurier has agreed a deal to join the Premier League giants, but Mourinho is confident new signing Lindelof can fill the role if no one else comes in. West Ham are a stronger side than they were last term. Manchester United were not as thrilling as they used to be during Sir Alex Ferguson's time.

Despite training alone at Chelsea for most the summer, the Serbian was impressive on his debut against Sampdoria in Dublin and again against Real Madrid in the Super Cup.

Moments later Paul Pogba fired in the fourth after he was slipped in by Martial to complete the rout.

A wide man has always been of interest, but Mourinho claims he is also looking for a left-back, even though he admires Luke Shaw's attitude in coming back from another injury and the England defender will be given a chance to re-establish himself. Antonio Conte is pushing his club to bid for Tottenham's 27-year-old defender Danny Rose, according to The Sun.

There was no indication from United that the Swede is injured and, after a hard preseason, he may be getting the Mkhitaryan treatment from last season.

With that in mind, here are three players Mourinho must start on Sunday. Juan Mata and Zlatan Ibrahimovic tallied in the second half as Man United downed West Ham 2-0 last January.

They haven't had many success in the pre-season as they lost to Werder Bremen and Manchester City, drew against Altona and Sturm Graz, while managed to beat only Fulham. If they can get the three attacking players in and around Lindelof it will be interesting. Hernandez is one of four potential West Ham debutants, along with goalkeeper Joe Hart, forward Marko Arnautovic and full-back Pablo Zabaleta.
