However, he said that Yadav has not been removed from the party. Nitish could be made convenor of the NDA, the stature once enjoyed by George Fernandes and Sharad Yadav, according to JD (U) leaders. "I invited JD (U) to join the NDA", the BJP chief tweeted.

JD (U) has finally started taking decisions against Sharad Yadav, one of the foundation pillars of the party, who has now turned anti-JD (U).

The Janata Dal (United) will make a formal announcement on joining the NDA in its national executive meeting on August 19 after BJP president Amit Shah invited Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to join the ruling alliance.

Party's national general secretary KC Tyagi said, "Nitish Kumar himself will moot the proposal which will be passed unanimously".

Nitish, however, swore-in as the Bihar Chief Minister the very next day with Sushil Modi as his Deputy Chief Minister.

In July, Nitish Kumar had called off his grand alliance with Congress and RJD to join hands with the BJP.

The cracks in JD (U) have now become so big that it would be impossible to save the structure. He has taken care of such concerns in the Bihar council of ministers. "People's mandate was against the BJP-led NDA", he said.

On Thursday, Sharad Yadav had said that he was still with RJD, Congress-led Mahagathbandhan.

The JD (U) has 12 members in Parliament, two in the Lok Sabha and 10 in the Rajya Sabha. Following the events, Ali Anwar was expelled from the party for attending the meeting on Friday night. The leaders standing with Nitish are threatening the other leaders who support me. We are not going to get cowed down by such threats.

In Patna, JD (U) chief of the state unit Bashistha Narain Singh said Sharad Yadav forced action on him by continuously engaging in the "anti-party activities". "Kumar's decision to align with the BJP is unacceptable", Ansari said.
