Unlike the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is a Sony/Marvel collaboration and part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Venom and Silver and Black are standalone films produced exclusively by Sony.

The studio has also pulled Bad Boys sequel Bad Boys for Life from the schedule (it was previously set for November 9, 2018). Get the Silver and Black release date and more information below.

Just last week, Sony announced that Tom Hardy will take on the title role in Venom, another Spider-Man-based film, with Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer on board to direct. Venom is eyeing a fall start of production and is scheduled to hit theaters on October 5, 2018.

Both Silver and Black and Venom will share a common universe between themselves, though, in what has been dubbed "Sony's Marvel Universe". Since Stromm has a shady history of experimenting on people in Silver Sable's fictional home country of Symkaria (right by Latveria and Sokovia, Marvel's other fake countries), she has a bone to pick with the obscure Spider-Man villain.

In the comic books, Silver Sable is a mercenary who runs a company that hunts war criminals. According to Deadline, the screenplay for Bad Boys 3 is still being worked on and Will Smith still has interest in the project.

Sony also announced its upcoming sequel to Sicaro will be released on June 29, 2018. Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin return for the film, this time directed by Stefano Sollima. The big screen Barbie movie has been pushed back to August 8, 2018 from a previous June 2018 date. Silver and Black will hit theaters on February 8, 2019. With Silver and Black, she becomes the second woman of color to direct a Marvel-based film.

Sony Pictures hasn't had the best year in 2017, so hopefully their schedule for 2018 will offer up more positive results for them at the box office.
