PGA Championship: Rory McIlroy makes par after skipping ball on cart path

Matsuyama looked just as unreal Friday at the PGA Championship, even before the storms arrived and took so much of the bite out of Quail Hollow.

Day declined to speak to reporters as he left the clubhouse following an anything-but-boring back nine that included three birdies, two bogeys, a double bogey and that eight on the 18th. He missed the cut at the PGA for the first time since 1995.

Jordan Speith's bid to complete a career grand slam appears to be fizzling.

"But I haven't been spot-on all week, and the worries I had about my swing showed up today in the way I played". He has a win and two other top-25s at the U.S. Open.

CHARLOTTE - Unlike Jean Van de Velde or the fictional Roy McAvoy, Jason Day didn't wait until Sunday to endure a final-hole implosion.

"It was like playing under the lights which was kind of nice", Day said.

Kisner, seeking his first major title, sank a 48-foot eagle putt at the seventh to highlight his second round.

"It's not like I'm hitting the ball crooked, I'm just hitting it in the wrong spots", he said when the long day was over.

He had a bogey and a birdie on sixth and seventh, as he turned in three-over. "I have to play great but we're only halfway through".

Mickelson had made 21 straight cuts at the PGA Championship until Thursday and won it in 2005.

Barring a pair of low rounds on the weekend, Rory's majorless stretch looks like it'll extend into 2018, marking nearly four years since his last major victory.

Hideki Matsuyama made only one birdie and wasted two good scoring chances on the back nine.

"I was grateful for the rain delay because I was getting exhausted", he told the PGA Tour. It's just these last two days I haven't scored very well.

"I was just trying to get it in the bunker, and luckily I hit it with enough speed, and it got up and out of there".

"I was playing mini-tours and I was broke, that's the only place I could afford to buy a house, and I went back there", Kisner said.

Stroud, who arrived early to finish the second round before returning several hours later, looked like he might go into the final day with the lead until he stumbled late. "It's just unfortunate because I was actually in a rhythm and the momentum was going my way and we got called off". I love this game.

"But the changes to this course mean low rounds are not the 61s and 62s I've shot here in the past, they are 66s or 67s".

I had a bit of shaky start with a bogey on 10th, a par-5 and that was a disappointment, as you don't want to let go of the par-5s and certainly not drop a shot there.

Then came a bogey on the 17th - and big trouble on the final hole. What result to expect now from Quail Hollow?
