Here it is, ladies and gentlemen: the BMW Z4.

Created to preview the next-generation Z4, the concept has a stylish front fascia with subtle curves and a prominent twin kidney grille.

Set to be fully revealed in California at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on August 17, originally it was thought the Z4 might resemble a junior i8.

We've been waiting for it and we've already spoken a lot about it when we first caught a glimpse of the vehicle was first teased.

Sharing its platform with the eagerly anticipated all-new Toyota Supra, the little BMW is rumoured to be clothed in lightweight body panels which will likely employ some of the carbon-fibre-reinforced plasticstechnology developed for both the i3 supermini and i8 supercar. What we know for sure is that the new Z4 will be a rear-wheel drive auto, as standard. If sources are to be believed, BMW has planned to reveal the new Z4 in a similar fashion as their popular 8 series models.

Expect turbo-charged four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines in the new roadster, along with an M version.

And there's some speculation BMW hasn't ruled out an even lighter coupe version that could follow on from the roadster's launch.
