Authorities arrested Jamal Campos, 25, of Egg Harbor Township, who was charged with strict liability homicide for a drug-induced death, first-degree leader of a narcotics ring, possession with intent to distribute 100 wax folds of heroin and possession of heroin.

A search warrant executed at an Atlantic City motel Tuesday morning resulted in a dog being shot to death by police, multiple arrests and the recovery of an alligator from a swimming pool, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said. O'Gara's death lead authorities to Campos, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release.

But the motel is just a few hundred yards from Lakes Bay nature preserve.

At this time, it remains unclear as to how the alligator got into the motel pool.

The 1m-long alligator was discovered today at the Bayview Inn & Suites in Atlantic City. Law enforcement officials found the alligator after they raided the motel, reportedly kicking in every door, including the front office, and shattering windows, according to the Press.

Animal control workers safely lifted the alligator from the pool, and took it to an undisclosed site.
