But the New Zealand striker has set his heart on joining the Clarets and will keep Leeds waiting in the hope the Premier League outfit make a second bid for him.

Leeds United have offered striker Chris Wood a new contract, according to Sky Sports News.

Burnley are reported to have had two offers turned down for Wood, the first of which was said to be worth £12 million.

The New Zealand global scored a whopping 30 goals last term for the Whites and his exploits have not gone unnoticed with interest from a number of Premier League clubs.

Should Wood turn down the club's proposal, however, it would be the clearest indication yet that the player is open to leaving Elland Road.

The 25-year-old has two years left to run on his existing deal and his value is only likely to decrease beyond the close of this summer's transfer window.

Will Wood's sign a new deal with Leeds United?

Leeds have insisted Wood is not for sale despite reports Burnley are prepared to increase their offer to £20million.
