He is playing Subhash Chandra Bose in the show that will try to trace his journey to become the number one enemy of the British Empire in India. Rao had a small part in this Dibakar Banerjee film and Bose is his very next time working with Alt Balaji. At first the news of Subhash Chandra Bose suffered a plane crash and yet there were many news and theory confirming his existence and being undercover. It was only to spread the news of his alleged death but he was alive.

Before talking about performance of the cast, the character Netaji Bose was known for being master of disguise; such skills came handy during the time of Indian revolution and mastering quick escape from the British rule. The actor is going to be seen in the upcoming web series, Bose Dead Or Alive. The show also stars Patralekhaa Paul (reuniting with her boyfriend Rajkummar Rao after CityLights) and Edward Sonnenblick.

Previously, Hansal Mehta told IANS that the series "is not another boring biography". "It is a fast-paced, gripping tale on a man whose trajectory is one of the most fascinating stories ever".

The web-series has been directed by Pulkit, while National Award winning director Hansal Mehta has taken the role of creative director. The trailer begins with a voiceover which says, "The world thinks Bose is dead". Hansal Mehta in collaboration with Rao has previously given us some unbelievable movies like Shahid, Citylights, and Aligarh. Also, the one reading the newspaper looks suspiciously like Bose himself. The show will start streaming on ALT Balaji soon.
