Alexis Sanchez has just a year left on his contract with Arsenal, and the player has been a topic of great interest from a number of clubs across Europe.

Sanchez's future has been the subject of speculation all summer, with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain both reportedly interested, but Wenger has steadfastly refused to sell.

Arsene Wenger has revealed Alexis Sanchez is in contention to start Arsenal's match against Liverpool next weekend but warned the Chilean will need time to reach his best form.

That would allow Alexis to leave the club next summer as a free agent.

Alexis Sanchez was Arsenal's top goalscorer last season.

Is that a smart offer?

"A here's a thought - it was fairly obvious at the back end of last season that Guardiola doesn't really fancy Aguero, so why don't Arsenal suggest a swap?"

City have so far signed Ederson, Bernardo Silva, Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Danilo this summer for a combined total of £210 million, but Guardiola is still keen on bolstering his squad further as he looks to compete on four fronts, this season following a trophyless debut campaign as City manager. Plus, the huge lengths Man City are going to with the accommodation and wages will be incredibly enticing for Sanchez, and it's so unlikely that he would pass on the offer.

They believe that the Sky Blues are finally will give the South American star the contract he's been searching for. Manchester City's odds of successfully landing one of the Premier League's most exciting players have shortened to 2/1.

Boss Pep Guardiola is preparing a £50m bid for the Chilean striker before the transfer window shuts on Thursday week.

Arsenal suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat at the hands of Stoke City on Saturday despite dominating vast swathes of this game.
