In an official statement, Athletic Director Debbie Yow claims that the punishments levied against the programs "are not regarding the allegations of sexual assault". The North Carolina CBS affiliate is reporting that two players have been dismissed from the program, while three others have been suspended. But additional actions could be taken based on outcomes of the criminal and Title IX investigations.

"We had five freshmen, two of whom have been dismissed, who made poor decisions that don't align with the values of our program and each has been handled accordingly".

On July 22, N.C. State police received reports of three sexual assaults at an on-campus party. Additionally, a trio of additional freshmen, linebacker Isaiah Moore, defensive lineman Erin Collins and defensive lineman Xavier Lyas, have been indefinitely suspended by Doeren.

The police investigation was conducted independent of the NCSU Athletics Department, police said, though athletic department staff have "fully cooperated" with authorities. They searched a residence as well as mobile phones for evidence, and reviewed video from campus security cameras.

"Investigators determined that five freshman football players participated in the on-campus gathering where alcohol and marijuana were present", the statement said.

The disciplinary measures stem from what were described as "violations of the Student Athlete Code of Conduct". "Our players understand that I'm going be firm, but fair when it comes to discipline". These actions are not regarding allegations of sexual assault.
