The Black ("Midnight Black") and Gray ( "Orchid Gray") will only be available to US customers. In most other markets around the world, the Galaxy Note 8 is set to go on sale mid-September onwards in Deep Sea Blue, Midnight Black, Orchid Grey, and Maple Gold colors.

Rest of the key features of the Galaxy Note 8 include an IP68 certification, AKG-tuned earphones, dedicated hardware button for Bixby, heart rate monitor, and enhanced DeX capabilities. There are also 128GB and 256GB storage variants. The aspect ratio tuned here is 18:5:9 for a cinematic viewing experience.

The pen itself has seen some updates, including a finer nib and more levels of pressure sensitivity. So, you can press the bottom center of the device to get back to home, even when you are watching a video or working on an app.

Note 8 sports top-notch features such as 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core chipset with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Samsung has opted for a smaller 3300mAh battery and has subjected the handset to an 8 point battery safety check, just like it did with the S8 and S8+. Possibly, the Korean maker chose to play safe after the last year's battery debacle.

Naturally, Carphone Warehouse will also be happy to flog you a Note 8 on contract for an upfront payment as low as £10. Yes, I said cameras, because it comes with two rear camera setup, one wide angle and another telephoto one.

It would be appropriate to wait for the event to commence and see how things unfold.

The dual cameras at the back include a 12MP wide-angle lens with an aperture of f/1.7 and a 12MP telephoto lens with aperture of f/2.4. Well, Samsung has chose to come back with a bigger fanfare. The camera comes with a new feature called Dual Capture which takes a zoomed as well as a widescreen shot simultaneously. For example, Live Focus lets you control the depth of field and alter your photo's bokeh effect in preview mode and after you take the photo. On the front, there is an 8MP shooter which comes with F/1.7 and Auto HDR. And there are more places in the system where you can use handwriting now, including messaging.

Of course, no Note device will be complete without the S-Pen. The GS8 is still running 7.0, but Samsung hasn't made any other notable changes to the software. It also comes with the S-Pen stylus. The phone will run on an Android 7.1.1 Nougat. You can also create a shortcut to launch two of your most used apps with a single tap on the edge panel. It aims to make full use of the phone's large screen to increase productivity. As for the all-important price, we're still waiting on confirmation from Samsung, but pre-orders begin tomorrow on all carriers in the USA, with the S8 also available in other worldwide markets. In the United States, it is priced around $930 (roughly Rs 59,500). The S-Pen is now smarter than ever before.
