Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz announced that he's suspended sophomore CB Manny Rugamba for one game.

The program is named in memory of Ferentz' granddaughter Savvy Ferentz, who was born early after 21 weeks and five days of gestation in August 2014. "This gift from the Ferentzes will help us capitalize on our strengths, advance our research, and, most important, make an impact on the lives of many Iowa children and their families, now and far into the future". "We also knew they do extraordinary things at UI Stead Family Children's Hospital that would give her a fighting chance".

The Ferentz family has committed to a $1 million donation to support researcher's work in the neonatal field at the UI Stead Family Children's Hospital, the release said. "We were thankful we had that".

Hawkeyes coach Kirk Ferentz says sophomore Manny Rugamba will be suspended for the September 2 home game against the Cowboys because of an offseason violation of team policy.

The donation will be used to start The Savvy Ferentz Program in Neonatal Research to improve care for infants who are born prematurely. "This is a way for us to help them help others".
