The film was pretty much ready to go in 2007 for a 2009 release, but the writers strike pretty much stopped it in its tracks.

Either way, more plot details for the canceled Justice League Mortal continue to trickle out even 10 years after it was announced and this will surely get more DC fans nostalgic for Miller's shelved superhero film.

While appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast hosted by MTV's Josh Horowitz, Baruchel reminisced about the Justice League Mortal, which was days away from shooting before being canceled. In the script, that was supposed to cause Lord's nose to bleed, that is, until Baruchel pitched Miller the idea of having his character bleed out of every orifice in his head because, "it takes that much to get into the Kryptonian brain".

"I turn him into full red eye Superman, and then there's this big ass fight between him and Wonder Woman, where he breaks her fucking wrists and shit", he continued. "And then I die halfway through the movie and my consciousness is uploaded into a f-king mainframe and I'm an evil computer". They had all of the pre-vis. "They had all of the sort of production design figured out, and so they would take us and walk us through this command center where they had everything", the actor said of checking things out down in Australia. They had all of the art up. It was very tableau and there were paintings. "What the characters were doing had such teeth to it".

The experience was particularly heartbreaking for Baruchel, who was only going to be in twelve scenes, but Miller wanted him there throughout filming not only because he was part of the cast, but also because he knew Baruchel had an interest in filmmaking and wanted him to have a kind of apprenticeship on the picture.

Wonder Woman's intro into Batman v Superman is nearly universally considered one of the better moments of the divisive film. The Minotaur has a battle-ax in his hand and she just rushes him. Gets off her steed and holds up the Minotaur thing-and doesn't say a goddamned thing.

While speaking with Happy Sad Confused (via Comic Book), Baruchel opened up on what Justice League Mortal would have had in store for fans, including the Wonder Woman V Superman fight, with Lord controlling the latter.
