Independent wrestler William Ogletree died on Tuesday after suffering a critical head injury at an unsanctioned wrestling event in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Ogletree suffered the injury on Sunday and was reported to have no brain activity on Tuesday. He was performing a maneuver called the "spine buster" during the staged wrestling event at the Blue Note Lounge.

Joe Miller, the administrator of the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission, event was not licensed by the commission despite the state's requirement for all professional wrestling events to receive approval before they begin.

Although it is early on in the investigation into Ogletree's death, officials say criminal charges may be possible in the case.

"This Sunday I will be wrestling in a match with a lot of extremely talented people!" A mistake that could of been (sic) avoided had the proper measurements been taken cost him and his family more than anyone expected, a simple mistake has taken the life of a bright and vibrant young man wise beyond his years. I'm so excited to help with this.
