Capcom's new Puzzle Fighter is coming to mobile

I know I'm not alone when it comes to my... displeasure when it comes to gaming on mobile devices. Players would pick characters from Street Fighter or Darkstalkers and compete in puzzles against opponents, dropping pairs of gems, matching them with similar colors, and destroying them with crash gems to damage opponents. Kids are now just a tap away from downloading a game from their phones, eliminating the occasional trip to the arcade or to your local hobby shop to buy a cartridge for your SNES or a 2-disk game for your PlayStation. Capcom is sure to not let this opportunity pass.

We've invited many of your favorite Capcom characters to join the battle creating Puzzle Fighter's outstanding roster of legendary characters and stages from popular Capcom franchises.

The game makes its playable debut this weekend at PAX West and is set to soft-launch in select regions soon, with global release planned for late 2017. One of the most exciting things for us has been being able to play with all the best toys in the Capcom Tickle Trunk (toy chest for you non-Canadians). The actions performed by the characters, however, are purely cosmetic and will have no bearing on the actual game.

The new Puzzle Fighter will have an assist mechanic that allows two extra characters to be picked in order to "further enhance the abilities of the main character". All of those classic Capcom characters and more come to life with voiceovers and cinematic special moves. It featured child-like (or chibi) versions of Capcom fighters. After all this time, Capcom is finally resurrecting the long-lost series and bringing it to Android and iOS later this year.
