The two companies chose to build SK Telecom's next-generation network management solution for a nationwide telecommunication network in India by 2019. Both the companies will work in a partnership to evolve the 5G-standard technology in India.

The two telecom firms will work together to enhance the standards for 5G and advanced technologies like network functions virtualisation (NFV), software-defined networking (SDN) and Internet of Things (IoT). The outcome of all these efforts by Airtel and SK Telecom will be exclusively focused on India. It will have capacity to identify, monitor and deliver improvements to the network experience on an individual basis.

"SK Telecom is delighted to announce a strategic partnership with Bharti Airtel, a global leading mobile operator", said Park Jung-ho, the President and CEO of SK Telecom.

"With SK Telecom's clear and undisputed leadership in technology, this is one partnership that will decisively change the game in India and put the country at par with the most advanced broadband nations in the world", Mittal added.

There has been a massive quest among the Indian Telecom Operators to deliver high speed mobile internet to customers.

South Korea's SK Telecom developed the global mobile telecommunications industry, and took it to the next level by launching CDMA (2G), WCDMA (3G) and LTE-A (4G) for the first time in the world. They will also look to enable an ecosystem for introducing these technologies in India, said Bharti Airtel in a statement filed with the BSE.

The partnership will work across several areas including developing bespoke software to improve network experience, leveraging advanced digital tools including machine learning, big data and building customized tools to improve network planning based on customer's device experience.

Specifically, the solution provides the automatic optimization of a network by artificial intelligence, real-time quality prediction through big data analysis, the detection of and countermeasure against abnormality signs in all areas of the network.
