Pedro, Zappacosta, Cesar Azpilicueta, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Michy Batshuayi all got in on the act as the west London outfit got their European campaign off to a flyer.

"It's very important to give players the opportunity like Andreas [Christiansen]", Conte said.

Davide Zappacosta delivered an impressive display in his first start for Chelsea in their win over Qarabag - and Victor Moses was quickly reminded of the Italian's performance by his own teammates.

'I think it was a good result. I have 17-18 senior players. We have to develop these players, to try and create a good competition, a positive competition, between them.

"To play in Champions League means the coach trusts you and my message tonight was that I trust all my players".

Antonio Conte's rotation may have been to prepare his side for the visit of rivals Arsenal this Sunday.

Chelsea's next Champions League game is away on September 27 to Atletico Madrid who held AS Roma to a 0-0 draw in Italy.

Alvaro Morata, David Luiz, Eden Hazard and Antonio Rudiger were just a few of the big names missing from the starting line up this evening. "We must give him the possibility to recover very well, to be totally fit".

The gifted Belgian, at the heart of Chelsea's Premier League success last season, is still not back to full fitness after injuring his ankle playing for his country last June.
