SIMS PROBABLE; HOLANI QUESTIONABLE - Beaty said he thinks star wide receiver Steven Sims, who was shut down early in Saturday's loss with a nagging right ankle injury, will be available against Ohio. Nothings changed, we're not panicking.

Beaty said the players were even "embarrassed" by the loss on Saturday but when they went back to work on Sunday he liked what he saw from the team. "He seems to be doing a lot better".

"It hurt. It hurt not to be able to go out there and fight with my teammates, but I can only do what I can do", Sims said. They have had their bad plays but there have been a lot of good ones in there as well. "I've got to get healthy for them in the long run, because we have a long season". Don't worry about what people are saying outside because they're just trying to get in your head.

"I'm not sure yet", Beaty said of the 6-3, 325-pound lineman's status for Ohio. Sims tried to play in the first series of the Central Michigan but couldn't continue. I think that he'll be fine. He said the injury is getting better day-by-day and he should know more later this week.

The speedy, 5-foot-10 Air Raid target from Houston felt emotionally wounded, too, watching the CMU loss from the sideline.

"Just 'cause I couldn't do anything", Sims continued. "I felt I couldn't help the team at all. It sucked, so I'm trying to get back as soon as I can".

Beaty revealed at his weekly press conference Tuesday afternoon senior defensive tackle Isi Holani suffered an unspecified injury during KU's loss to Central Michigan.

In the latest depth one of the noticeable moves was Zach Hannon sliding into the back-up right tackle spot that was held by Alabama transfer Charles Baldwin.

Hannon, a Nebraska transfer, Kansas City, Mo., native and Rockhurst product, was mostly a special teams contributor for the Cornhuskers.

"Based on just my talking with him today and seeing him", Beaty said, "I don't know if he'll be available or not".

"The story there is Zach", Beaty said. "That's not the story".

"Zach has come on and playing really good for us", Beaty said. "That lasts for about two minutes, and then it's about what you do, right?" Nothing against Charles, but Zach has done a terrific job, you know.
