American tourists attacked with acid in Marseille's train station, prosecutor says

Four female USA tourists have been attacked with acid in Marseille's main train station.

Four American women were attacked with acid in Marseille's main train station in France on Sunday, the city's prosecutor's office said.

She said all four of the tourists, who are in their 20s, have been taken to hospital, two of them for shock.

A 48-year-old woman was arrested and detained by the police.

There was no immediate information on where the USA tourists are from.

Two women suffered facial injuries and two other travellers, all in their twenties, were left nursing burns following the attack.

The attack is not thought to be terror-related.
