That totals 26,700 customers restored over 24 hours.

FPL estimates that it will have restored power to essentially all of its customers along the East Coast service territory by the end of this coming weekend, and for its customers along its West Coast service territory by end of day September 22, with the possible exception of areas impacted by tornadoes, severe flooding and other sections of severe damage. "We ask for the patience of our customers as we undertake one of the most challenging rebuild and restoration efforts in our company's history". "The number of poles down across FPL's system also appears to be low despite Irma's high winds, particularly across Florida's West Coast".

Florida Power & Light, the largest electric utility company in the state, estimated that more than 2.3 million of its 4.9 million customers were still without power Tuesday night. When she contacts FPL, her account says power at her house is on.

"If you don't have internet, what good is the app?" said Kelly, who helped investigate Florida's power outages after the hurricanes.

The U.S. Justice Department has received more than 400 fraud complaints involving relief aid after Hurricanes Harvey and Irma and expects a spike in fraud complaints in the coming months, department officials said on Thursday.

Memorial Regional Hospital, a facility across from the nursing home, was identified as a top priority by the county and had power, Gould said.

A Reuters report showed that NextEra Energy Inc's, NEE.N, FPL, Florida's biggest electric company, Friday, said about 1.1 million customers had no power, while Duke Energy Corp (DUK.N) reported that more than 371,000 customers were in the dark and Tampa Electric, a unit of Emera Inc (EMA.TO), reported about 39,000 were without power. As of 9 p.m. Thursday, Alabama Power's sister company had restored power to 920,000 customers.

Gould on Friday blamed a statewide volume of outages, more vast than anything FPL's worked before. Typically, restoration workers don't know restoration times. They may be electrified by a downed line out of sight and conduct electricity over great distances. They said it would take until September 22 to get electricity back to the majority of customers in southwest Florida.

Even when winds have subsided, conditions can be risky.

"It is clear that this facility can not be responsible for Florida's vulnerable patients, and therefore the State will stop them from providing care", Scott said in a news release.

Keep generators well away from open windows to prevent risky fumes from entering your home or a neighbor's home.

◦No trimming should be done near a power line. "Switches trip for a reason, such as limbs or trees falling on power lines".

◦Be especially careful when working with any extended equipment or tools.

Stay far away from downed power lines, flooding and debris; lines could be energized and risky.
