Iran leader Khamenei warns against U.S.

Ayatollah Khamenei stated that Iran started its nuclear program, because according to experts' estimates, the country needed to generate at least 20,000 megawatts of nuclear power, but the United States opposes Iran's nuclear program as it is basically opposed to scientific progress of the Iranian nation and other nations.

After years of tension with the West, Iran struck a deal with Britain, China, France, Russia and the USA plus Germany in July 2015, under which Iran agreed to limit its uranium-enrichment activities in return for the lifting of western and global sanctions.

The news comes as the Trump administration is seemingly struggling to put the nuclear deal in question.

"However today, we see that despite all agreements and promises and many discussions during the negotiations, the USA treats these negotiations and their outcome in a totally oppressive and bullying manner", he was quoted as saying by Press TV.

Since the historic deal was signed in Vienna, the IAEA has repeatedly confirmed the Islamic Republic's compliance with its commitments under the JCPOA, but some other parties, especially the USA, have failed to live up to their undertakings.

Blasting the United States officials for accusing Iran of telling lies, the Leader said, "You are the ones who lie; liars are those who don't want to see the prosperity of any nation and believe it is right to secure one's illegitimate interests by any means".

"The Americans should know that the Iranian people will stand firm on their honourable positions and on important issues related to national interests, there will be no retreat by the Islamic Republic", Khamenei said in a speech to Iranian military academy graduates.
