During the 25-minute call, Trump and Moon condemned the latest missile launch by North Korea, pledging to work with the worldwide community to implement the latest UN Security Council resolution.

And what have the US and its allies achieved?

North Korea's most recent test of an intermediate range ballistic missile flew 2,300 miles, making it capable of reaching the US territory of Guam.

President Donald Trump and his top national security advisers said Friday there are military options available for dealing with the North Korea crisis, despite some experts and former Trump allies saying that there are no good options for the region.

"We've got to talk", DeLury told Fox News.

Moon is set to head to NY on Monday to attend the United Nations meeting, where North Korea is expected to be one of the key issues.

North Korea confirmed on Saturday that it conducted another medium-range ballistic missile drill Friday under the personal guidance of its top leader Kim Jong Un.

On Friday, the U.N. Security Council condemned North Korea's "highly provocative" test of an intermediate-range missile, which hurtled over US ally Japan into the northern Pacific Ocean.

Guterres will be discussing the situation on the Korean Peninsula with all concerned parties in the margins of the upcoming high level week of the UN General Assembly. But the North has ignored countless worldwide reproaches previously.

"We've been kicking the can down the road, and we're out of road", McMaster told reporters, referring to Pyongyang's repeated missile tests in defiance of worldwide pressure.

"Our final goal is to establish the equilibrium of real force with the US and make the USA rulers dare not talk about military option for the DPRK", leader Kim Jong-un reportedly said. Some 25 million people live in the metropolitan area of Seoul, U.S. ally South Korea's capital, well within range of the North's extensive artillery.

Moon also stressed the need to strengthen South Korea's military capabilities as well as those of the South Korea-US alliance.

"America and our allies will never be intimidated", he said.

"The leaders shared the importance of implementing the U.N. Security Council resolution under close cooperation with the global community and agreed to continue their discussions on the issue", the Cheong Wa Dae spokesman said.

"What we are seeing is they continue to be provocative, they continue to be reckless".

Lisa Collins, a fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, said other nations will be watching the United States at the U.N. next week to determine Trump's next steps. And right now, I don't have any more forensics on it.
