Amazon debuts latest Amazon Fire HD 10, with Alexa hands

Amazon Fire HD 10 is the first tablet from Amazon that features 1080p display packed in 10.1-inch screen. A 64GB model will also be made available, while an onboard microSD slot will let you expand storage by up to 256GB. While Amazon's popular Alexa Echo devices are arguably the king of digital assistants, it's easy to forget the the retailer had a string of failures before that, especially the Fire Phone.

In addition, the new Fire HD 10 will also be the first Fire tablet to include Alexa hands-free support, allowing users to play or pause a video, find music, set a timer, view calendars, and more through voice commands. The next-gen Fire HD 10 features an improved display, updated specs, and several new features.

Amazon said its latest tablet was designed with entertainment in mind, and is ideal for movies, TV shows, books, magazines, apps, and games. Hiding underneath that shiny new screen are spruced-up innards, with 2 GB of RAM and a quad-core processor up to 1.8 GHz making the new edition up to 30 percent faster than the last generation. It will come in Black, Marine Blue and Punch Red, and start shippingfrom 11 October.

The tablet also features dual speakers with Dolby Atmos support, dual-band 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, front and rear-facing cameras and up to 10 hours of mixed-use battery life.

In the United Kingdom, the Fire HD 10 will be available online at Amazon, as well as in the in stores or online at Argos, Currys PC World, Dixons Travel, John Lewis, Shop Direct and Tesco.
