The Arsenal boss has revealed that the 26 year-old will have a scan on Monday or Tuesday, with the extent of the injury expected to be known later in the week.

The club have now confirmed Welbeck will miss at least three weeks, per Sky Sports.

With two weeks off for the October worldwide break, the time table for return, at the earliest, is almost a month from now.

The Arsenal manager offered the latest on Danny Welbeck, Mesut Ozil, Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers.

Another injury followed, sidelining Welbeck until January 2017.

Welbeck sustained the injury in the 0-0 draw against Chelsea last weekend, and was replaced by Reiss Nelson in the 87th minute, but the former Manchester United man is targeting a return for Arsenal's clash against Watford on October 14.

The forward's career has suffered because of injuries but those concerns finally looked to be behind him after his promising start to the season.

Arsenal fans want to see Arsene Wenger select alternatives.

Reports suggest he could be out of action for around a month, which would be a major blow to Arsene Wenger considering he's started all five of Arsenal's Premier League games so far this season.

Welbeck came on as a substitute for England in both of their World Cup Qualifying victories earlier this month, scoring the final goal in the 4-0 win away to Malta.

Welbeck's return to the global fold after a long term injury absence arrived as a huge boost to Southgate, who has identified the former Manchester United star as a key member of his squad.
