Everton manager Ronald Koeman has praised young striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, describing him as a "big talent".

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has said suggestions his side should finish in the Premier League's top four are "ridiculous".

The Merseyside club have endured a torrid start to the campaign despite spending around 145 million pounds ($195.84 million) on transfers in the close season.

The Toffees were handed a very tough start to the Premier League season and they now sit 18th, having already played Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United.

"I know what I like and the way to be successful".

"It's insane to put a lot of pressure on the team by saying we need to finish in the top four".

"Everybody has signed new players".

"It doesn't mean we don't have ambition, but I'm realistic - and in football, being realistic is sometimes hard". "If there is one person in football (who is ambitious) then he is on this table - but I am realistic".

Everton found themselves on a run of four consecutive losses in all competitions heading in Wednesday's Carabao Cup clash with Championship outfit Sunderland. "Now we need to show we are still strong, and I'm confident after what I saw". Yesterday was the best medicine. "Good performances normally mean winning games".

Koeman said injured midfielder James McCarthy could return to training next week, while long-term injury absentees Seamus Coleman and Yannick Bolasie are ruled out until November.
