Scrapping the League Cup from the calendar could have a positive impact on English clubs playing in Europe, according to Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho who has the competition four times.

Lukaku, who has scored seven goals in as many games since joining United in the summer, now looks the automatic choice for the number nine position.

Mourinho has played a variety of players in the full-back positions this season but it seems that Shaw won't be in that selection conundrum for another while yet.

"Anthony Martial was good, Juan Mata was good, Jesse Lingard was good. If I can win it for a fifth time, there is space for one more". The Netherlands global made his first appearance of the season as a late substitute last week against Crystal Palace and could be set to start against United.

"It's hard for Martial but it's hard for many others".

"Rashford is in the same bracket as those two - £100m-£150m players - he is every bit as good as those two and can be in the future because he is improving every season".

"Nobody deserves to be on the bench", he added.

Aguero has five goals already with just five games gone in the Premier League season, but has yet to score 30 in a single campaign.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho admits that he told his players to take the foot off the gas at half-time to not humiliate "a great opponent". "Not just on his will, his desire to do it, but being effective in that defensive work".

Pellegrino, 45, said: "When I was a player at Barcelona he was working in the staff as a coach talking about the opponents under Louis van Gaal".

Throw the returning Zlatan Ibrahimovic into the mix too and Mourinho is going to have one hell of a headache trying to keep all of them happy.

"After the first few matches it does seem like they now have a squad capable of winning the league", said Scholes here on the sidelines of Premier Futsal. "They are different but in the globality, they are all very similar".

"He has to work". "You saw the game".

"He hasn't played for six months".

"He played so well, not just in terms of goals, his second was fantastic, but how he kept the ball", he said.
