Akil Mitchell says he feels "blest" despite suffering a serious eye injury.

The Brooklyn Nets have signed forward Akil Mitchell.

The 25-year-old returned to the United States for treatment, brining an end to his time in Auckland.

"Mitchell (6'9", 250) appeared in four games for the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn's National Basketball Association G League affiliate, during the 2016-17 season, averaging 8.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 28.6 minutes per contest.

Details of Mitchell's contract with the Nets have not been released.

Breakers general manager Dillon Boucher was thrilled for Mitchell and wished him well with his new opportunity. "Akil was a fantastic Breaker and is much loved by the entire club, from the front office to the fans for his athleticism, total commitment and the energy with which he played the game".

The Nets finished last in the NBA's Eastern Conference standings last season but are making steady gains in the off season under Marks' guidance.
