After reaching a three year high in the aftermath of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, gas prices are starting to drop across the Sunshine State according to a new study from AAA.

The latest survey from GasBuddy shows average retail gasoline prices in ME fell 10 cents per gallon in last week, averaging $2.56 on Sunday.

In Pennsylvania, the average is $2.799 per gallon, down 5.3 cents from last week's average.

Including the change in gas prices in Texas during the past week, prices yesterday were 51.5 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 28.3 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The price in Vermont was down 4.2 cents in the past week, to 2.67 per gallon.

While oil prices have gained momentum in the last few weeks, it will not be enough to stymie the continued decline at gas pumps, he said. "Gas prices in the southeastern USA should drop another 5-10 cents this week".

Motorists may continue to see lower prices in the coming weeks, as Lundberg says she expects prices will continue to fall. The lowest was in St. Louis at $2.19 a gallon. Still, prices are 20.1 cents higher than the August average of $2.356. That was followed by the Tampa-St.

Northwest Florida had the least expensive gas in the state. Petersburg-Clearwater market where motorists paid an average of $2.63 per gallon.
