Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif returned to Pakistan from London on Monday, putting to rest all speculation by political rivals.

He was staying there to look after his ailing wife, Kalsoom Nawaz, who is getting cancer treatment.

H reached Islamabad through PIA flight PK-786 at around 7:45am.

Sharif's spokesman Asif Kirmani told reporters that the former premier would appear before the accountability court tomorrow. He asserted that PML-N chairman did not go to London with his won wish rather he was there for his wife's medical treatment.

All other members of his family, including daughter Maryam and sons Hussain and Hassan, are also in London and none of them accompanied the ex-PM on his return.

He questioned the court's decision of disqualifying him, "We did not commit any corruption".

He expressed dissatisfaction with the Supreme Court's handling of his review petitions and said that he had never thought of not returning to Pakistan.

Asif Kirmani said he felt sorrow for those who had been talking negatively about the return of Nawaz Sharif.

On July 28, a five-judge larger bench of the Supreme Court, while disqualifying Sharif under Article 62 (1)(f) of the Constitution had asked the NAB to file four references in the Rawalpindi accountability court within six weeks on the basis of the material collected and referred to by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) as well as that already available with the Federal Investigation Agency and the NAB.

Maryam Nawaz while praising the valour and courage of his father tweeted that Sharif chose to return to Pakistan knowing that what he faces is not accountability.

In another tweet, she maintained: "It takes great courage and valour to be willing to pay the price for challenging what needs to be changed".

Pakistan Finance Minister Ishaq Dar today appeared before an accountability court here in connection with the Panama Papers scandal and submitted surety bonds worth Rs 1 million to secure his bail.

An accountability court issued arrest warrants for Dar in a corruption case against him after he failed to appear for his hearing on September 20.
