What is striking is that unlike other sports-based films, the film will showcase the journey of the entire cricket tournament rather than focusing on a particular player.

After the debacle of Salman Khan's Tubelight, filmmaker Kabir Khan is planning to make a film on Indian cricket team's first win at the World Cup in 1983 and unlike reports of Arjun Kapoor playing the lead role of Indian cricket team captain, Kapil Dev.his BF Ranveer Singh has been roped in for the role. And now, the next actor who is set to join the list is Ranveer Singh.

Vishnu Vardhan Induri who is co-producing this flick with Phantom Films said, "With his energy and passion, we feel that Ranveer is a flawless fit to play Kapil Dev, one of the greatest sporting legends India has ever produced". "It's great to have Ranveer come on board as Kapil Dev, as honestly I could see no one else in the role since I started working on the script", Mumbai Mirror quoted Kabir as saying.

Confirming the news, producer Vishnu, said, "Yes, I am trying to make this film since the last three-and-a-half years and I have now got a combination of Ranveer Singh and Kabir Khan". A docudrama-biopic on Sachin Tendulkar was released earlier this year, and another one on Jhulan Goswami, one of India's greatest cricketers, titled "Chakdah Express" could be released around the 2018 World T20. No one thought that Indians would beat WI and conquer the World Cup. West Indies had won two consecutive editions of the World Cups in 1975 and 1979. India, who had put a decent score of 183 on the board bowled exceptionally well to defend the total. That was a moment that no Indian can ever forget.

The director said, "As a young schoolboy, when I watched India win the 1983 Cricket World Cup I had no idea that from that day onwards Cricket in India will change forever". Also, he is the only Indian bowler who has never bowled a no-ball. The rest of the cast has not been announced as of yet, and it would be interesting to see who will play the rest of the players.
