It's widely known at this point that the WWE star has been Hollywood-curious as of late, appearing in flicks like Amy Schumer's "Trainwreck" and the upcoming comedy "Daddy's Home 2", which is hitting theaters November 10. Nanjiani, meanwhile, is coming off of a banner year with his autobiographical movie The Big Sick earning rave reviews as an indie release this summer. This new untitled Buddy Cop movie could be great thanks to Nanjiani's experience in the comedy genre.

The movie, now untitled, will come from the production team of Ruben Fleischer, David Bernad and Murray Miller. Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) will be directing the film after he is done finishing Venom for Sony Pictures. He will also be joined by producer David Barnad, his partner in the Universal TV-backed production company The District. Miller, who has written for the series Girls, American Dad!

He wrote and produced "7 Days in Hell" and "Tour De Pharmacy", the highly praised HBO mockumentary about doping among athletes that also stars Andy Samberg, Orlando Bloom, Freddie Highmore, Daveed Diggs, and Cena.
