Oklahoma State sophomore RB Justice Hill ran for 164 yards on 30 carries in a 41-34 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday.

Matt Ammendola attempted an 18-yard field goal that would have given Oklahoma State a 37-34 lead with less than six minutes left.

After the teams exchanged field goals, Texas Tech drove 70 yards for a touchdown, scoring on a 1-yard run by Justin Stockton to cut the margin to 34-27 with 14:53 left in the game.

Even if Oklahoma State's offense manages to score more often when it has the ball, it's defense would have to figure out its own deficiencies as the landmine of offenses roll out each week - starting at Texas Tech this week.

Texas Tech is trying to start 4-0 for the first time since 2013, which was former Red Raiders quarterback Kliff Kingsbury's first season as their head coach.

Texas Tech's Nic Shimonek and Keke Coutee vs. Oklahoma State's Mason Rudolph and James Washington - the quarterbacks and top receivers for the Big 12's best two passing teams. He finished the half with seven catches for 92 yards.

OSU took the lead on their next possession, with Rudolph scrambling and finding Jalen McCleskey wide open in the back of the end zone for a 4-yard touchdown to make it 21-14 Cowboys with 3:49 to play in the first half. Falling 44-31 at home, the Cowboys fell behind early in the Big 12 race as the Horned Frogs dominated the proceedings.

OSU threw an interception that was returned 95 yards for a touchdown, missed a chip-shot field goals and lost an onside kick. Oklahoma State took a lot of those big, downfield plays away. Rudolph hit James Washington for a 14-yard score.

Texas Tech has lost eight straight to the Cowboys, and remain almost a 10-point underdog despite being at home and despite the better record this year.

Barden booted a 24-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter to hold Oklahoma State's lead to four at the break.

Texas Tech's defense had moments when it slowed down the Cowboys' offense, but that Oklahoma State trio proved to be too much.
