Piaggio launches Vespa Red at Rs 87009

Piaggio has launched a special edition of the Vespa scooter.

The new Vespa RED is now available at all Piaggio Motoplexes as well as Vespa showrooms across India.

Vespa India has announced that for every Vespa RED sold in India, $50 will be contributed to the Global Fund, that fights against AIDS. Under this partnership, the money generated by the sales of the Vespa RED in the country will go to the Global Fund to support people suffering from AIDS and in educating them and ending the disease in the country. If launched, the 150cc engine powered models will produce a peak power output of 11.44 bhp at 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 11.5 Nm generated at 5,500 rpm.

In terms of features, the Vespa Red gets new red 12-inch alloy wheels and a red finish for the leather seat. The scooter also comes with colour coordinated exclusive merchandise including a helmet, T-Shirt and hat. In the global market, Piaggio already has the Vespa 946 RED.

Farhan Akhtar said, in support of the cause represented by the collaboration, "I am privileged to present this initiative to the country and proud to own the first (VESPA) RED bike". The iconic Vespa is a socially responsible brand and has always given back to society in supporting similar causes in other geographies. In the global market, Vespa RED is an all-red version of the classic scooter 946, which contributes towards initiatives fighting the scourge of HIV/AIDS, the spread of tuberculosis and curbing malaria. "The (VESPA) RED is attractive not only because of its striking red color and great design, but the best feature of this scooter is that it's fighting AIDS".

In India, the Vespa RED is the model based on 125cc model.
