The police believe that they apparently fell asleep inside.

Two boys, Sonu aged four and Rajkumar aged five, died due to suffocation after they both got accidentally locked in a taxi for close to nine hours outside their residence in Outer Delhi's Ranhola area. Incident took place after the auto owner locked the vehicle without noticing that two kids have been trapped inside the vehicle. Raju, a cab driver, later realised that the vehicle was unlocked. "Primary medical examination suggested death due to suffocation", a police officer said.

The owner of the auto, a taxi driver, locked the vehicle through central locking, unaware of the presence of children inside the auto, said media reports. The family lodged a missing complaint after they failed to trace the kids who went out to play. However, the children could not be found till 7 pm, after which the police control room was informed. Around 10 pm, the investigating officer asked the family members to go home and return with the photographs of the children. Police said that even after making a PCR call, they continued to look for the children, suspecting that they had wandered off.

Two children died of suffocation after being stuck in a vehicle. The officer said that the family members then chose to return to the police station in the parked cab. "They were rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared them brought dead", said the DCP. No case has been registered so far.
