Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) slammed former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon on Tuesday, telling Sean Hannity on his radio program that the Breitbart chairman's strategy for creating a civil war inside the Republican party is "stunningly stupid".

"But you know what?"

Like the reporting you see here?

"There's a coalition coming together that is going to challenge every Republican incumbent except for Ted Cruz", Bannon said. "The grit, determination and courage of the American working men and women - we are going to win".

Denouncing Washington Republicans' "total contempt for the forgotten man", their "total contempt for the base", Bannon pointed to Moore's against-all-odds victory as an example of the disconnect between establishment Republicans and their increasingly alienated voter base.

Last month, Bannon-backed Senate candidate Roy Moore defeated incumbent Luther Strange in the Republican primary to fill Jeff Session's former Senate seat.

Bannon told Hannity that major Republican donors now "are coming to us because they are exhausted of having their money burned up by trying to destroy people like Judge Moore". We're going to cut off the oxygen to [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell. "Mitch McConnell's biggest asset is the money".

"We're going to go after them", he vowed. "We are going after these guys tooth and nail".

Bannon tonight reiterated what he said after leaving the White House--that he's going to war for the President against that establishment.

"Just voting is not good enough".
