How Will Chelsea Manage Without N'Golo Kante?

Kante was forced off during the first half of France's win over Bulgaria last weekend, and it was soon suggested that the 26-year-old would be absent from Chelsea's Premier League clash at Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

The health of Kante and Alvaro Morata is sure to be on the agenda at Friday's pre-match media conference.

N'Golo Kante would be a huge loss to Chelsea, especially for so long.

The priority for the club will be getting the duo fit to face Roma in the Champions League group contest at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday 18 October. That could give striker Michy Batshuayi, who has five goals this season, a chance to impress at Selhurst Park.

Fortunately for Conte, he has strength in depth in the middle of the park following Danny Drinkwater's deadline day capture, though the England global is yet to feature for his new side on the back of his switch to Stamford Bridge.

One of football fans' main fears is that a key man will go away on worldwide duty, only to come back injured. It is more likely Tiemoue Bakayoko and Cesc Fabregas will be deployed in midfield from the start, but defenders Andreas Christensen and David Luiz - back following suspension - are alternative options.

The reigning Premier League champions only have three league fixtures against Crystal Palace (14th October), Watford (21st October) and Bournemouth (28th October). More challenging clashes follow as Chelsea go to Roma on October 31 and host Manchester United on November 5.
