Joe Biden will speak at Proctors on November 20 about the loss of his son Beau at age 46 to brain cancer and the profound personal grief that followed, preventing him from seeking the presidency in 2016.

"This cause is very important to me, not only because of other children, but because of my own three children", ShopRite of Warminster owner Joe Cowhey said. "But it's long past time for the powerful men in Hollywood to speak up, to be strong enough to say something, because silence is complicity".

"It so fits our mission, which is outreach to the community and health and wellness, and opening doors to people's understanding and appreciation of where the risks to our society are and what we can do about that", Doylestown Health President and CEO Jim Brexler said of the program.

When he was offered his father's Senate seat, he instead opted to finish his work fighting child sexual abuse, confident that the merits of his contributions would elevate him more honorably than his name. Under the partnership, the health system's medical staff will receive the two-hour training. "That's what Beau did and that's what this foundation does and that's what this partnership does".

"Thirty-five percent of the victims of child abuse are under the age of 11", Biden said.

"We want child predators to know that Bucks County will not be safe for them", he said.

Funding for the partnership comes from ShopRite of Warminster.

"While we were able to bring them into our family, there are countless others that need help", Cowhey said, adding that the program is one small way he feels he can do more.

He said it's important that people learn how to react to signs of child abuse.

Julie Flack leads the Madrigal Singers from William Tennent High School in patriotic songs during an event Tuesday, Oct, 10, 2017, at Ann's Choice in Warminster to announce a partnership between the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children and Doylestown Health. "The cardinal sin was for a man to use his power to abuse a woman or a child".

Biden, whose wife, Dr. Jill Biden, grew up in the area, reminded audience members of those connections, saying, "It's good to be back in Bucks County".

"Beau knew that we had to change the culture", Biden said.
