RCMP did not make it clear as to how the two incidents are linked.

Edmonton police and Strathcona County RCMP are investigating after an overnight crime spree in which someone was shot, two armed carjackings reportedly took place, one vehicle was set on fire and another one abandoned hundreds of kilometres away in Saskatchewan. A man was found at that scene suffering from gunshot wounds to his shoulder and neck.

At about 12:35 a.m., Stathcona RCMP were called to assist Edmonton police who were tracking a black Ford Fusion.

He was conscious and "appeared to have non-life threatening injuries" when he was transported to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, RCMP said.

A black Chrysler 300, with a Saskatchewan licence plate, was stolen from the gas station and both suspects vehicles fled the area, RCMP said.

The Chrysler 300 was later seen traveling at a high rate of speed through the Vegreville area before being located in Saskatchewan.

Leslie Checkosis, from the Little Pine First Nation in Saskatchewan, told CTV he was driving on Highway 16 to Saskatoon around 8 a.m. Thursday when an RCMP officer stopped him and told him to take a different route.

No charges have been laid. A news release Thursday morning from Saskatchewan RCMP said individuals involved in the incident may be armed and are considered risky.

They are considered to be armed and unsafe and RCMP are asking the public to report any suspicious activity to police or Crime Stoppers.
