Reporting on numerous interviews conducted with Republican officials and White House workers, Vanity Fair reported that the president was "unravelling".

Bannon reportedly warned Trump earlier this year that the biggest threat to his presidency was the 25th Amendment, which would allow his Cabinet to vote him out of office.

There is a new level of concern among Trump's staffers and longtime confidantes, who described the president as increasingly "consumed by dark moods", Vanity Fair reported.

He recently told security chief Keith Schiller, 'I hate everyone in the White House!

This comes after the US president said in an interview: "It's frankly disgusting the way the press is able to write whatever they wanna write and people should look into it", to which Colbert responded by referring to the first amendment, which protects freedom of speech.

The 25th Amendment to the Constitution is a measure that establishes a system for replacing the president or vice president in case there is death, removal, resignation or incapacitation.

Following a couple of jibes at Trump's plans to increasing the nuclear program on Wednesday night, Stephen Colbert had a lot to say about Trump's grasp of the United States constitution.

Both Tillerson and Trump were quick to deny such allegations.

Bannon's comments were revealed shortly after Rep Sen Bob Corker said on Twitter that the White House had turned into an "adult day care".
